Heojun Museum was opened in 2005 in honour of Heo Jun and his accomplishments. Heo Jun was a court physician in the Joseon Dynasty. Heo Jun wrote a number of popular medical texts. Although working for the royal family, Heo Jun wished to make medicine and treatments more readily available for the people of Korea. He tried to find common herbs that local people could easily obtain and he wrote his details in the easy to understand Hangul (Korean writing system) not the more difficult Chinese characters. Heojun Museum shows us how medicine developed over the years in Korea and the life’s work of Heo Jun.
